Moccamaster Recipe:
- Brew Ratio: 1:16
- Coffee Beans: Medium-Coarse Grind
- Kettle: Cold or Room-Temperature Water
You’ll need:
- Moccamaster Brewer
- Moccamaster Paper Filters #4
- Scales or a Moccamaster Measuring Spoon
- Medium-to-coarsely ground coffee (roasted for filter)
- Cold/room-temperature water (for your brew)
- Hot water (to rinse your paper filter)
Brew Ratio Guide:
- 1 Cup: 15g or 2.5 scoops of ground coffee : 250mL water
- 2 Cups: 30g or 3 scoops : 500mL
- 3 Cups: 45g or 4.5 scoops : 750mL
- 4 Cups: 60g or 6 scoops : 1L
- 5 Cups: 75g or 7.5 scoops : 1.25L
Method:
- Fill the water reservoir with cool (preferably filtered) water, following your brew ratio.
- Place a paper filter into the filter basket, ensuring it fits nicely.
- Optional but recommended: Rinse both the filter and coffee carafe with hot water to remove any papery taste and ensure warmth.
- Scoop the required amount of ground coffee into the pre-wet filter paper.
- Place the filter basket back onto the Moccamaster, ensuring the flow control is open for a full carafe.
- For Select and Classic models, toggle the selector switch to your desired carafe size.
- Turn on the Moccamaster and let it brew. Serve & enjoy!
Notes:
- Weigh & measure the ground coffee for accuracy.
- Adjust grind size if extraction is too slow or too bitter.
- For weaker coffee, add hot water to your cup rather than changing the brew ratio.
- Experiment with different coffee varieties or roast profiles for desired strength.
- Cleaning and descaling your machine every 3-4 months is recommended for optimal performance.
